Jessica took care of an elderly patient that was seen after a fall. Although no traumatic injuries were noted, the patient was found to have lesions highly concerning for metastatic cancer. It was decided that the patient would be discharged for further work up at her primary facility (Scott and White). The problem was the patient was traveling by AMTRAK and the next train out would not be until the next day. Jessica went out of her way to provide lodging, meals and travel to the train station the next day. Jessica even provided the patient with her personal cell number if she needed anything else. A silent hero on our staff.
