I noticed that Jessica paid special attention to his needs when I was there with him.
My husband was in the 5th floor ASU for an angiogram. Before coming to Buffalo, he was very anxious about any surgical procedure. Just to give you background, he had been hospitalized with a gallbladder attack. It was not a pleasant experience. When I talked to his nurse before he had his pre-op, the nurse (Jessica) was understanding and wanted to help. After the surgery and in recovery my husband told me that Jessica went down with him and explained every phase of what the surgeons were doing. He felt confident and less anxious about the procedure. I noticed that Jessica paid special attention to his needs when I was there with him. He was so hungry, and she managed to find him a sandwich to eat and snacks too. He was thirsty and she gave him ice chips for his mouth and ginger ale when he could have it. Jessica instructed both of us as to what to look for and what to expect as well as how to proceed when we got home. She certainly made me confident in caring for him when we got home.
Jessica is a very special person. One who blends compassion and wisdom in her nursing skills. How very fortunate that our Veterans can receive the top-notch care that Jessica provides. Thank you, Jessica, for restoring our faith in hospitals and medical procedures. He will be back in to have his gall bladder removed in the future. I'm hoping he will again be treated by Jessica. Thank you.
