Last Saturday Jessica was the nurse on duty for my mother who is fighting Covid pneumonia. She was reviewing the treatment plan with my mom and Mom gave me a thumbs-up through the glass. I know Mom felt like she was in good hands. Soon after, my mom coded. Jessica gave CPR for ten minutes and by her heroic efforts and sheer willpower, she was able to bring Mom back. She gave Mom the opportunity to fight this disease. I can’t imagine the physical and emotional toll this brought Jessica. Even after all this, she made sure to update us often in the waiting room and answer all of our questions. She made us feel like family and that our loved one is in great hands. I have a higher appreciation for nurses and we are forever indebted.
