Jessica is the hallmark of a nurse when my grandmother was passing unexpectedly. She seemed to bear the pain with us. Even when she wasn’t my grandmother’s nurse, she came and checked in on her & the family. She empathized with the family in regard to visitor policy and didn’t give a rehearsed speech. She stood in the room for over 30 min after extubation and was readily available to answer any and all questions when we often had to go searching for other nurses. She spoke with MK during all cares, even though she couldn’t respond. She was more than a nurse and treated my entire family as grieving individuals, rather than “just the patient’s family”. She made a powerful difference in our lives during this horrific loss we suffered. She collaborated with us to ensure my grandmother was comfortable. Jessica showed immense amounts of compassion and efficiency when caring for MK. She followed EBP and delivered exceptional care for a complex patient. Thank you for making my last days with my grandma (mom) a little more bearable.
