Last month, Jessica cared for a dear friend of mine for a couple of days. Her warmth and compassion were like a ray of sunshine for us. There are no words to convey how much a smiling, kind face from a competent nurse who truly wants to be of service can lower the angst of worried loved ones brought on by prior days of primarily task-based care. She made us feel safe, GAVE US HOPE, and kept us informed of what was likely to happen next. Jessica educated us on the diagnosis and offered suggestions on how to prevent a recurrence. Little did she know that these conversations helped to lift the unnecessary sense of guilt that my friend was imposing on herself. She seems to know just what families need.
