This morning after waking up and getting ready for church, I sit here holding E and feeling so grateful. I really was blessed with such a support team between my husband and mother-in-law. But, I do have to say our Lord sent us one of the most amazing nurses I've ever come across. From the early preterm labor to the final push and the beautiful screams of our baby girl, Jess Meier held my hand and saw me through. She was there for me and my family. This wonderful nurse who had worked a 12 hour shift, never once let on she was exhausted, had better things to do, or was worried. I was her first priority, and not just because it was her job. She truly looks at her patients as individuals and cares for us deeply. She was the pillar of strength and voice of reassurance when I didn't think that I could take it anymore. She cheered me on, she preserved my dignity and advocated for me when I couldn't. She, step by step, was our guardian angel. In saying all this and looking at our sleeping baby who is healthy and happy, I just want to say it is women like this one who help us moms get through the most exciting, terrifying and emotionally challenging times in our lives. They don't bat an eye to stay over their 12 hour shift to ensure our comfort and safety. They give up their own family time, sleep, fun times, etc. to be there for us. She has made a truly everlasting impact on our lives and we will forever be grateful to her. We will never forget the sacrifices she made to make our birthing experience so beautiful. Thank you, Jess, for not only being the amazing labor and delivery nurse that you are, but for the person that you are. Thank you for touching our family in an unforgettable way and going above and beyond the call of duty. God has blessed you with such a gift, and here's to the many more lives you will impact!
