I recently had my very first surgery, and as anyone can imagine, I was extremely nervous. What could have been an overwhelming and scary experience was made so much easier because of one amazing nurse, Jessica.

From the moment I woke up from anesthesia, I remember how attentive and compassionate she was. Even though I was drowsy and nauseous, Jessica made sure I was as comfortable as possible. I could feel that she was going above and beyond, gently helping me manage the nausea and speaking to me with such calm and kindness. She made me feel safe and cared for.

My mom and boyfriend were also impressed with the care I received. Jessica didn’t just take care of me; she gave them peace of mind, too, which meant everything to all of us. Her presence, professionalism, and compassion turned what I thought would be a terrifying day into something that felt like a breeze.

Jessica is an example of what nursing is all about, and I’m beyond grateful to have had her by my side. I have always wanted to be a nurse, and if I ever become one, I would like to be as good as she was to me.
