Jess was always super attentive, kind, and hard-working. She is the reason my baby is with us today.
I was admitted to Magee rather suddenly when I went in for a routine ultrasound. After some time and tests, we found out that there was absent diastolic flow occurring and that my baby boy was less than the 2nd percentile for his size. For the next three weeks, I had a non-stress test daily if not twice daily, and an ultrasound every other day. It was very stressful and overwhelming. However, one thing that stayed consistent was the kindness and compassion, and work ethic of the nurses. All the nurses during my time in the 2800 unit were great but one of them stood out, Jessica. Jess was always super attentive, kind, and hard-working. She is the reason my baby is with us today. During my morning non-stress test my baby had a major deceleration meaning his heart rate dropped and didn't come back up. My mom went running to find a nurse, but Jess was already running down the hall to us. She quickly turned me on my side, adjusted the monitor, and started an IV. By the Grace of God, his heart rate came back up after a few minutes. If Jess wasn't closely watching the monitor and so quickly came to act, our little man probably wouldn't be here today. I have never received better care than I have with Jessica. She deserves this award because she is a true lifesaving hero.
