I work on the Birthing Center with Jess. She has attended a continuing-education program with the nation's leading bereavement organization, Resolve Through Sharing, and is a certified perinatal bereavement counselor. Recently, we had a 38-week fetal demise. Jess came in on her day off to create a bereavement box for the mother. As part of the Birthing Center staff, we all understand how important this is to our patients. Jess went above and beyond making molds of the infant's feet, making special ornaments, obtaining a locket of the baby's hair and taking many pictures of the infant. She did this knowing that this was all our patient would have left to remember her baby. Care of the bereaved families is one of the hardest parts of working in the Birthing Center, and Jess has displayed an exceptional talent for caring for these families.
