... Our mother was a patient on 2 East after open heart surgery. Her recovery was not what we all expected. Our mother had one complication after another and sooner than later, we realized she would not be able to fully recover. Jessica was our day nurse and she couldn't have been better. We as a family were able to feel very confident and comfortable as Jessica cared physically for her and we were able to care emotionally for her. Jessica's kind and gentle manner, her calm and caring presence, her teachable approach to us brought us closer in understanding Mom's complications and everything being done to help her. She treated Mom with the utmost respect and dignity, always gentle when talking and giving care. Our mother was her #1 priority and concern. We felt that clearly.
Jessica listened to our concerns, gave support and was never failing to offer a "shoulder" to lean on. Jessica's compassionate nature, endless energy, heartfelt kindness, perceptive ability, and vast knowledge allowed her to hear our questions and explain and teach us about mom's care to our understanding was so greatly appreciated.
Along with her support, the unit and the residents, we as a family were able to say "goodbye" to our mother with the peace and dignity she deserved. We are very honored and proud to have had Jessica as our nurse. She will always be remembered with heartfelt warmth and fondness.
