One morning the code bell went off from the OR, after a Cesarean delivery. When our NICU team arrived on the scene the baby had no heart or respiratory effort. Jessica immediately took control of the situation. She was able to successfully resuscitate the infant after having no heart rate for 6 minutes. She was able to delegate tasks, while remaining calm and focused, in a very scary situation. Once the infant was intubated, she gave a student nurse practitioner multiple opportunities to learn and practice new skills. She took the time to thank our entire team after the infant had been settled in the NICU and debriefed with us. She updated the parents and completed all necessary documentation all while keeping a close eye on the patient's condition. This is just one example of many that show what a dedicated, knowledgeable, and passionate nurse practitioner Jessica is. She is always willing to come to the bedside and answer questions about a change in patient's condition or parental concerns. She advocates for her patients and truly listens to the nurses caring for them. Jessica always has a positive attitude that is contagious. Her calm in stressful situations allows our entire team to work more effectively together. She is a wonderful nurse and I'm always happy to work with her.
