For the last three years, I have had the pleasure of working with Jess Taylor. Recently, we were working closely and Jess had a difficult patient assignment with a very sick, unstable patient. I watched Jess work quickly and efficiently using our mass transfuser, continuously assessing her patient, managing her life-saving drips, and updating the physician. She was able to quickly identify that this patient, despite efforts, was getting worse, and helped send her to a tertiary care center in only a short matter of time. As she identified the downward spiral her patient was on, she remained calm, treated her compassionately, spoke to her each time she administered medication and continued to assess her. Jess was also able to talk with the family and keep them informed. Jess saved this young mother's life that day. It is not only an honor and a privilege to work with Jess, but an honor to call her a friend and teammate on our hospital unit. This is just one of the many times I have witnessed Jess act heroically, as the amazing nurse and asset to the ICU team that she is.
