Jessica laughed with us, cried with us, and listened to our stories
My sister, husband, and I were called to the ProMedica Hickman Emergency Room where Provincial House would be sending our Daddy to be evaluated. The prognosis was not positive. A Doctor and a Jessica Nelson met me in the lobby, Jessica was to be our Daddy’s nurse from the beginning of our Daddy’s final journey until God took Daddy from our hands to his. Jessica laughed with us, cried with us, and listened to our stories and memories of our Daddy and Mom. She blessed our Daddy and his daughters with such compassionate care.
When we knew Daddy was making his final journey, Jessica came into the room and shut off the monitors so we could concentrate on our last beautiful hours holding and loving our Daddy. You see he had been residing at Provincial House for the past three years where my sister and I visited him several times a week. When COVID became a part of our lives in March our visits continued but through a glass window with no big bear hugs, kisses, or holding our Daddy’s hand. The staff and Jessica made it possible for us to spend time loving on our Daddy.
Jessica continued to check on us, gave us updates on Daddy from her monitor, brought more Kleenex, water, and gentle touches on our shoulders.
When Daddy decided it was his time to enter Heaven’s gates, Jessica came in and laying aside all thoughts of COVID, she gave me hug that I will always remember as “The Healers Touch.” In that hug, I could feel the sympathy, compassion, and empathy she had for my sister and me.
We were thankful that morning that God placed precious and compassionate Jessica with us on our Daddy’s final journey on this earth.

To Jessica,
May God Bless you and your family as you continue to touch the lives of others with your healing touch.
