Her ability to uplift and mentor those around her has a ripple effect, leading not only to better outcomes for patients like my loved one but also to a more harmonious and motivated workplace.
One example of Jessica's accessibility and responsiveness occurred during a particularly busy day when we had several urgent questions about my loved one’s care plan. Despite her demanding schedule, she made time to speak with us directly, listened attentively to our concerns, and provided clear, thoughtful explanations. It was clear that her accessibility wasn’t just limited to patients and families—she also made herself equally available to her team, checking in with nurses to ensure they had the support and resources they needed to perform at their best.
Beyond her technical skills, she creates an environment where her team feels valued and engaged. I often noticed her acknowledging and praising the efforts of her colleagues, which seemed to strengthen their morale and unity. Her ability to uplift and mentor those around her has a ripple effect, leading not only to better outcomes for patients like my loved one but also to a more harmonious and motivated workplace.
Jessica’s leadership is most evident in the way she empowers her team through clear, compassionate communication. I witnessed how she took the time to provide her team with thoughtful guidance, ensuring everyone felt prepared and supported. Whether through calm encouragement in high-pressure situations or by sharing her extensive knowledge and participation to tackle challenges together, Jessica fosters a spirit of collaboration that inspires confidence in those she leads.
Jess goes above and beyond for her staff and her patients. She makes it a point to introduce herself to every patient/family on the unit. She is the person that we all look up to and strive to be. The SNICU wouldn’t be as organized and refined if it weren’t for her.
The SNICU is nothing without Jessica. She has planned and coordinated the neuro ICU being added to SICU. She has the best rapport with all of the attendings in any service. She is someone that everyone goes to for anything. They will go to her with questions and thoughts before anyone else, including the manager.
She sets the bar high for quality of care, and teaches younger staff to hold them to the same expectation. She stops by to check on patients and family, and speaks positively about her team
Starting on our unit over 2 years ago, I always looked up to her and wanted to be like the nurse she is. She is so knowledgeable and professional, in addition to being an absolutely phenomenal nurse coordinator. She provides that sense of calm in stressful environments that our unit needs, and even though she does not always care for specific patients, she is their biggest cheerleader and works with nurses to promote the best patient outcomes. She works tirelessly with providers and teams to make sure our patients have the highest possible care they deserve.
