I was the only patient left, and Jessica was so respectful and compassionate. Her professionalism and patience were impressive.
Jessica was an exceptional nurse! I was her last patient of the day, and I was having a couple of difficult, unexpected issues. Jessica helped me to resolve both of them. The first was being able to get my pain medications from the pharmacy. My doctor called in a prescription and Jessica informed me of a shortage of the drug. Once we found a pharmacy, Jessica confirmed they were available with the pharmacist, my daughter went to pick them up. Once there my daughter was told they were no longer available. It was late at night and Jessica contacted the pharmacist on my behalf and they were once again “available”.
Secondly, I was having a difficult time urinating before discharge (a requirement of my doctor). I was the only patient left, and Jessica was so respectful and compassionate. Her professionalism and patience were impressive. I was trying to consume as much water as possible and she calmly explained to me that I needed to slow my intake to avoid getting sick. I knew it was past her time to leave, yet I never felt rushed. She explained to me that her goal was to avoid having to check me into the hospital and her focus was solely on that goal. She told me she was not concerned about the late hour. I truly believe her compassion (and IV) enabled me to finally be discharged!
