When asked about a difficult shift or any issues, her feedback is only about things she would like to help in making things better and is willing to help in doing that.
Jessica began her career as United State Army LPN and was an Army Nurse from 2009 through 2018. For ten years, she served our country as a nurse in various locations and different specialties. Her first assignment was in a Surgical trauma unit where she cared for critically ill and injured patients with various kinds of injuries. Her future assignments included supervising a post-anesthesia care unit, working in the emergency room, working as a Mother-Baby and L&D unit supervisor, Medical-Surgical Supervisor, Rehab and Special Care LPN, Long Term Acute care LPN, and an LPN in a Progressive Care Unit. She received an award as a Female Hero in Triage Mass Casualty. In 2018, she graduated as a Registered Nurse and began working outside of the Army. In June of 2020, she became employed in the Float Pool where she was not only able to float to various facilities but also to float to many areas. Her home was completely destroyed by Hurricane Ida as she worked at a facility for five days and her young daughter was with a family member. She continued to take care of patients in the Emergency Room who came to the facility for care. Jessica's most significant contribution to nursing is her ability and willingness to work in several different areas. The training, as well as her vast assignments in the Army, prepared her to have the ability to be very versatile. She floats where needed most and utilizes her expertise to take care of patients and to help other staff that she works with. Here are just a few comments from patients whom she has provided care for recently on a Labor and Delivery unit: " she made me feel safe; she kept me comfortable and was very attentive". She was amazing, helpful and really took time with me to calm me and help me through difficult time." Another patient said "she was fabulous! She was informative, helpful and kind. I really felt safe in her care", "she was so awesome, we are both physicians and she was helpful, informative, very knowledgeable, and attentive." While working on units, she has had compliments from physical therapists in that she is always ready to answer questions about the patient to facilitate their care. Also, she is willing to help any specialty as they take care of her patients. At this time, she is still out of her home while continuing to get work done to complete it. She is living in a rental about an hour and a half from some facilities where she works. Even though she is experiencing difficulties in her life, she never shows that at work. When asked about a difficult shift or any issues, her feedback is only about things she would like to help in making things better and is willing to help in doing that. The AVP on the Labor and Delivery unit where she does some shifts said, "she is so genuine and authentic. She is so engaging in her interactions that people feel like they have known her forever!" This is the behavior and role modeling that she exhibits on every unit she works. She leads by example and there is never anything too much for her to do for a patient and family. She seeks out others in the float pool that may be working where she is and offers them help in their new role. Also, she takes an active role in our outside activities with the float pool and was instrumental in our Easter Egg Hunt. Below we have listed just a few comments from co-workers and leaders: She is just plain fantastic! Her work ethic is incredible and so refreshing; she is a phenomenal team player; she is so knowledgeable and shares with her colleagues. I could go on and on. Below is a snapshot of the patient comments we received just last week during Nurse Leader Rounding. In L&D she made me feel safe; she kept me comfortable and was very attentive. In L&D, she was amazing! She is so helpful and really took the time with me to calm me and help me through a difficult time. In L&D, she was so fabulous! She was informative, helpful, and kind. I really felt safe in her care. In L&D, she was so awesome. We are both physicians and she was helpful, informative, very knowledgeable, and attentive. I was reading through last week’s comments from last week and realized her patients feel the same about her that all of our nurses and I feel. She is so genuine and authentic. She is so engaging in her interactions that people feel like they have known her forever. We want to give her a shout-out from her L&D family here at Baptist. I know we could not survive without her right now.
