A particular day in December was the worst day of my life. It was my first pregnancy, and I was on day three of light bleeding. I was 9 weeks and 4 days and had yet to have an ultrasound to confirm a healthy pregnancy. I knew something was wrong and went to OB triage that day.

They confirmed via ultrasound that my baby stopped growing at 8 weeks. I was absolutely heartbroken, crying, and scared. Jessica was there the entire time and really helped start my healing journey. I am a nurse myself, and this was the first time I was the patient. Her touch was so powerful that the doctors were trying to detect the baby's heartbeat via ultrasound, but there was nothing to detect.

She listened to my heartbreak. I had multiple questions about the process of the miscarriage, where to go from here, and if I would carry a healthy pregnancy again in the future. She took the time to listen and be there with me. I was so hungry, but also had no appetite. She insisted I go to two different fridges to pick out food that sounded good. She touched my back as we walked down the hallway and acknowledged all the pain I was having.

In the room, she gave me a hug and said, "I'm so sorry. You'll be back." I hope to carry a healthy pregnancy in the future, and I really hope that Jessica is my nurse again. She really helped in the start of my healing journey. Jessica, you touched my life.

Thank you for all that you do.
