Jessica Ray was recognized for the DAISY Award by a patient's family, who praised her for being kind, patient, efficient, and knowledgeable. During the week the patient was in the ICU, Jessica was the person his wife turned to every time she had questions or concerns. Even when Jessica didn't know the answer, she found people who did, and Jessica often gave the wife a reassuring hug. The family also lauded Jessica for keeping the patient calm when his medication made him agitated. That, in turn, helped keep them calm and put everyone at ease. They had many wonderful nurses, but Jessica was extra special!
