Jessica Rodriguez 2025, BSN, RN

I would like to nominate Jessica Rodriguez for the DAISY Award.  Jessica has always been a compassionate, caring nurse as well as an excellent team member.  Approximately two weeks ago, Jessica took care of an oncology patient on the Family Care Unit. Knowing that this patient had a seven-year-old son, Jessica asked the patient if she had the opportunity to purchase any Christmas presents for her son.  The patient stated that due to her illness, she neither had the time nor the energy to do any shopping.  Jessica took it upon herself, without telling anyone, to purchase and wrap gifts for the patient's son as well as the patient.  When Jessica delivered the gifts to the patient's room, the patient was overwhelmed by Jessica's act of kindness.  


Having worked with Jessica for several years, I am not at all surprised that she took it upon herself to show such exceptional generosity to someone she had just met.  Jessica is the type of person who will listen to anyone that needs a friend to talk to, but she never burdens others with her own issues.
