May 2026 Honoree
Jessica S Tocco, RN, MSN, CCRN
While out of town for a soccer tournament, Jessica showed the true heart of a nurse leader.
As we stood on the sidelines watching our daughters play, my Dad had a heart attack back home. Without hesitation, Jessica stepped in and took control of an overwhelming and frightening situation.
From the soccer field, she coordinated his care with the physician from Lake St. Louis, ensuring he was accepted at St. Luke’s heart specialty hospital. Because of her leadership, advocacy, and calm expertise, my father arrived at the CVICU where he received care from an incredible team of nurses and cardiologists and underwent life saving treatment – seven stents in three vessels.
Thank you, Jessica, for your quick thinking, clear communication, and compassion! Balancing being a mom on the sidelines with being a nurse leader who saves lives is pretty awesome. We are deeply grateful. You are truly God’s work. Thank you for the blessing of more time with our father.
