From the moment that Jessica took over my mom's primary nursing care in the cardiac ICU, we knew she was in capable loving hands. Her mild-mannered and easy-going personality made her feel comfortable in a very scary situation. My mom was in end-stage heart failure. She gave us information about what was happening with her care as well as asked mom for input. She was extremely competent and anticipated problems before they arose. She went out of her way to clarify and double-check questions with doctors regarding dosing and medications. She was always happy to help with a very positive attitude.
Jessica had such an incredibly personal connection with my mom. She respected how well my mom was involved in her own health advocacy and supported her. She listened to my mom when she was nervous about her heart rate and her oxygen levels. She didn't undermine the way she felt about her own body- something that many others did. She made herself present to my mom all the time. If Jessica said, "I'll be right back," she was. Her continuity of care was superb. Jessica was my mom's nurse multiple times during her stay, but she never had to be reintroduced to her. She remembered the important details of her care. Before my mom's death, she wanted me to be sure that Jessica knew she was the best nurse to care for her.
After her stay in the ICU, she was in Tampa General Hospital until she was discharged to Hospice. My mom passed away 10 days later at home. She moved to Tampa to spend time with me and my family in November and was admitted to her first hospital stay 3 days later. Her last months were spent around doctors and nurses in the Tampa area hospitals. She had over 100 nurses and caregivers in the PCT, respiratory, radiology, environmental, transport, dietary, and hospice setting. Of all these, Jessica was number one to my mom and we want her to know how important she was to our family at that time. That you for all that you did to give my mom dignity and love and making a difference for her. We are forever grateful.
