Jess cares about her students beyond their education and nursing futures. She understands that life happens and supports us outside of the classroom.
Jess has shown how much she cares & supports me as a student from day one. Even before having her as an instructor last fall, I was hearing how great she is. She is SO caring, smart, and genuine. She takes her time to explain things in a way that you understand, and if it takes a few tries she never seems annoyed. She is a great role model, and everybody that has worked with her speaks volumes about her character. Jess is the type of nurse and person I one day aspire to be!

There are many reasons that Jess deserves this award. Not only is she an amazing instructor with tons of experience to reflect on, but she is one of the most compassionate people I know. The past two years have been very difficult for me because of nursing, of course, but also for personal reasons. My mom got very sick third semester. Sick to the point where I didn’t know if she would be okay. She was in and out of the hospital, and visiting her was not easy due to my busy schedule, COVID, and she was 2 hours away. Throughout that experience, Jess never forgot to check up on me. She cared about what was going on with my mom and the effect it had on me as if it was her mom. She would ask every class for an update on how she was doing. She reassured me that she would be there if I needed anything or to just talk. She even asked me after winter break if my mom was doing okay. Jess cares about her students beyond their education and nursing futures. She understands that life happens and supports us outside of the classroom. Nursing is definitely the career for Jess. I can only imagine the number of lives she has positively impacted throughout her nursing years. I hope to be an amazing nurse like her.

I had the honor of having Jessica Schneiderman as an in-class instructor for two semesters and a clinical instructor for one. I have watched and learned from her during this pandemic in awe. She has always done everything that she could to make sure that we understood the content that needed to be learned with gentle, kind, and thorough explanations. Her presentations, case studies, and firsthand experiences regarding patient care have been pertinent to the class outline and beneficial as a learning experience. It has always been clear to me how hard she has worked to make sure that we were clear in what was being discussed regarding patient care. In addition, I must mention that I developed a great admiration for her professionalism and knowledge in the clinical setting. She always took the time to make sure before we walked into a patient’s room that I understood exactly what I was going to do and why I was going to do it. When I fumbled, she was there to walk me through it, while simultaneously making the patient feel comfortable with my being nursing student, and still directing me step-by-step through the process in a clear, gentle, matter-of-fact, and encouraging way. When the pandemic hit, and we had the choice of doing in school or at home classes, I watched her (as stressful as it had to be) calmly maneuver between teaching in-class and at-home students. She was always approachable, and I just cannot express enough what an asset she has been to my learning experience in nursing.
