Jessica Siesel demonstrated an unbelievable capacity for compassion, communication, sensitivity, willingness, and a sense of humor. Jessica was the last person that a patient spoke to before he was sedated and intubated. She was willing to share their last conversation, which brought great comfort to me and many others! Jessica walked us through everything that was going on and everything that was changing. When the decision was made to remove the intubation, Jessica made sure the chaplain was present. Jessica made sure we knew what was going on; she never left us questioning anything. She became one of us. Jessica’s ability to demonstrate compassion is unbelievable; she stayed in the room while the patient was passing, and afterwards, she shared in our tears and comforted each other. This level of humanity gives me great Faith in our healthcare and in kindness in general. We felt, and still feel, a connection to Jessica because of her ability to navigate a very difficult situation.
