Jessica demonstrated true courage and a compassion for helping her fellow care providers by sharing her needle stick injury story on video. As you can imagine, experiencing a needle stick can be a very emotional and personal event that we would prefer to keep to ourselves. Even with these obstacles, Jessica chose to rise to the occasion and be a role model by sharing her story in the hope that others would learn from her experience and prevent the agony of a sharp injury to others.
Jessica is a true culture of safety hero in allowing us to capture her story on video. Her story was so impactful and articulate, that it was shared at our Associate Summit meetings, at other SCL Health care sites, on SCL Health News, and is being provided to a national conference.
Jessica's bravery in sharing her story so others could learn from her event is truly worthy of the DAISY Award!
