Jessica Taylor, RN, BSN
Jessica provided extraordinary care, compassion, and empathy to my sister and our entire family during the most difficult time of our lives. She was our nurse in the Neuro ICU at SNGH during my sister's final day, and her presence was a true blessing.
Losing a loved one is an unimaginable, painful experience, but Jessica went far above and beyond her clinical duties to ensure my sister was treated with the utmost dignity and comfort. She did not just care for her patient; she cared for all of us, guiding our family through a devastating transition with profound grace.
We are especially moved by how incredibly attentive and gentle she was with my sister’s 10-year-old son, who was in the room with us. Navigating an ICU environment is overwhelming for an adult, let alone a young child losing his mother. Jessica spoke to him with such tenderness, ensuring he felt seen, safe, and comforted. Her ability to connect with him and provide a calming presence in such a tragic environment was nothing short of extraordinary.
There are two specific moments that will stay with our family forever. First, Jessica took the gentle time and care needed to help us safely remove my sister’s ring. This might seem like a small detail, but to our family, it meant the world to have those precious, personal keepsakes preserved.
Second, she went out of her way to help us create lasting, tangible memories by making a heartbeat print for our family. These prints are something we will cherish for the rest of our lives. It takes a truly special and thoughtful nurse to recognize the need for these moments and to facilitate such meaningful gestures during heartbreak.
