Jessica Toro, BSN, RN
I would like to recognize Jessica Toro, RN, for the incredible care she gave my son in the ED.
He was extremely scared and anxious about being there, especially when he needed an IV and blood work. As a parent, it was very hard to watch him feel that way. Jessica was calm, patient, and so compassionate from the moment she walked in. She spoke to my son in a gentle and reassuring way that immediately made him feel more comfortable and safe.
She took her time, explained things in a way he could understand, and never made him feel rushed. What truly stood out was how skilled and caring she was. She was able to place an IV and do his blood work so smoothly that he barely even felt it. What could have been a very scary and traumatic experience for him turned into something manageable because of her kindness and expertise!
She didn't treat him medically; she cared for him emotionally, and that meant everything to us. I will never forget what she did for him and me as well as a parent. My son is 22 and never gets sick, so when we had to get him to the ED, he was so scared. You see, his dad got very sick in 2021 during COVID, and he died, so he has a great fear of this.
Jessica, you truly are an angel. You're an exceptional nurse, and I hope you get recognized for this. He can't stop talking about you.
