April 2017 Honoree
jessica vogt, MSN, RN, IDPH-C, CNE
In the hospital and at the age of 28, a patient wrote that he never imagined he would need help with such basic personal care and skills at his age. This was truly a difficult time in his life.
He recognized Jessica for jumping into the situation and not only assisting with his physical needs but also helping him to understand that it was okay to seek help. He shared that her professionalism and compassion made him feel human again and that he mattered. He knew that she had taken time out of her day for him and he felt that it really made a difference.
Jessica's willingness to help this patient, even when she was not his assigned RN, truly exemplifies her selflessness and that small actions and kind words can make a lasting impact.
