When my 86-year-old mother was transferred to the Cardiovascular Unit from the hospital room where she was diagnosed, she was disoriented, confused, and frankly a bit combative. This is not her normal state, as she is a very sweet retired elementary teacher. Jess made both my mother and me feel very comfortable about being here. She calmed both of us by explaining everything the team was doing multiple times so that we could understand it. She has a very caring and calm personality and obviously cares very deeply for her patients. Jess never got cross or snippy. In fact, when I videoed my 85-year-old father, who is in the Memory Care nearby, she introduced herself, listened as he told a corny joke, and then told one back to him! Mom has been here with numerous serious ailments, yet I have felt like a member of my own family was taking care of her. I cannot thank her enough for her kindness and especially her gentleness. What an exceptional nurse!
