I don't even know where to start. Jessica took me under her wing on my very first day here at Cape Fear Valley in the Emergency Department, a brand-new nurse, and from that very first day, she showed me exactly what kind of nurse I wanted to be. With a heart of gold, she leads by example and with great empathy for others. She makes sure not only that her patients are taken care of but also that her coworkers and other staff are. As a manager now on the med-surg floor, there are many days when I take a patient to the floor and I see her working alongside her staff right there in the trenches, doing whatever it is she has to do to make sure every patient receives extraordinary, compassionate care. Though her position and title here have changed, her heart remains the same, and I am grateful that every time there is a need for help here in our department, she never hesitates to come running. She really is the kind of nurse every nurse should want to be.
