Jessica Witty RN pediatrics/PICU was nominated for her care of an adolescent oncology patient after his death following a long hard fought battle. She assured during this difficult shift that the dignity of this child was upheld. His father wanted to also assure that his child's privacy was honored. They bathed him together and when it was time for him to be transported to the morgue his father wanted to know the process. Jessica explained the process to him in the detail requested. This father's last wish was to accompany his son to the morgue. The transport staff was uncomfortable with this request. Jessica didn't take no for an answer and assured the transport staff that she would also accompany the family to the morgue so they could have this last wish fulfilled. Jessica made this happen for the family.
