Jess is an amazing front line leader and functions in the role as a charge nurse, mentor, preceptor and special delivery nurse. When restructuring our NICU a few years ago, Jess was one of the first people to step up and offer her experience to move to a different area of a different unit in order to lead as a charge nurse and help to diversify the skill mix of the new unit expansion. Over the past few years, she has worked to become a primary preceptor and a go-to preceptor for our new education nurse specialist team. She has recently received all fives as an exemplary preceptor based on evaluation by her orientees. She also ensures she is involved in local community work and is an active member of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses Delaware Valley Chapter. She also works hard to make sure to submit bravos and emails recognizing her peers for extraordinary work. Her last seven emails of recognition have resulted in 4 NICU star awards and 3 lifesaver awards. This recognition for hard-working clinical staff would not be possible without her. Most recently, she was caring for a patient when she realized that the baby needed bedside surgery. Jess practiced with a questioning attitude and this resulted in overall amazing care for the patient and a level of clinical nursing excellence that we are proud of! These are just a few of many examples of Jess's amazing leadership attributes. Jess has never received a DAISY Award (which is so surprising) and ALWAYS talks about the value of DAISY recognition. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
