She always empowers others to see what a difference they can make in their team members' lives but, most importantly, the lives of the patients we touch every day.
My entire career as a nurse has been at Cone Health (11yrs). I first met Jessica Brown when I was hired as a new graduate nurse on Mother Baby. At the time, our paths didn’t cross much, but enough for me to recognize she was a nurse that I strived to be like. A true leader and one who wanted others to be successful, also. She always empowers others to see what a difference they can make in their team members' lives but, most importantly, the lives of the patients we touch every day. My relationship with Jessica started to develop more when I transferred into the Labor & Delivery department as a bedside nurse. At this time, she had become my Unit Director, and she immediately began to encourage me to see my full potential as a nurse, then charge nurse, she would intentionally reach out to see what my desires or aspirations were so that she could foster those ideas and help lead me in the direction of success. Jessica leads with purpose, and that purpose is to lead others to success. Because of her direction, I have held my first leadership position as a specialty clinical coordinator for the Women’s and Children’s Care Center. In that role, I was supported and given opportunities to learn and mature in my professional career. After being in the SCC role for 2.5 years, Jessica encouraged me to be prayerful about and consider applying for the Assistant Director of WCC @ AR. I knew without a doubt that Jessica would continue to encourage me, and she would be a firm foundation for me to rely on as I took that leap of faith. Now a year later I can say that because of Jessica’s leadership and her believing in me has led to the success of our team and me in this role. I am so excited about the future of WCC @ AR under Jessica's and my leadership.
