May 2024 Honoree
Jessie Amstadt, BSN, RN
Jessie Amstadt recently had a patient who had recently immigrated to the country and was experiencing terrible abdominal pain but did not speak English and had anxiety about seeking care. Jessie was patient, compassionate, and empathetic towards this patient, even though it required a translator multiple times. When it was determined that the patient was having an ectopic pregnancy, Jessie provided empathy to not only the patient but the family as well. Jessie did not let a language barrier deter her from providing this patient with excellent care. She took extra time to explain the situation to the family and help process the emotions that the patient and family members were experiencing. Jessie leads with compassion and excellence and gives me and all other nurses an example of what truly being a nurse is all about!
Thank you, Jessie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
