The patient was seen in labor and delivery triage for contractions. She was given IV fluids which resolved her contractions and was about to be discharged, when the patient stated she had an IV iron transfusion in a few hours here at the hospital. The nurse did not want to take the patient's IV out and have the patient have to go through that procedure again. The nurse went out of her way and called the infusion center and explained the situation to them. The nurse was able to get an order from the on-call physician and have her IV transfusion on labor and delivery. I feel Nurse Temples went out of her way to make sure the patient did not have any unnecessary procedures!
