Jessie is a wonderful Pediatric nurse. As a lead, I always look forward to working with her. The best thing about her is how she advocates for her patients all the time as if they were her own children. I wanted to nominate Jessie for the DAISY Award because of how she went above and beyond to care for a complicated patient we had. This patient stayed with us for 6 weeks and her mom could not stop talking to me about how thankful she was for Jessie. This patient is from out of town and got really sick. Jessie acted fast on calling the doctor and giving her pain medication. She took care of the patient the most during her time of crisis. Her mom was so worried about being out of town but Jessie made sure mom was updated during her sickest time, following the patient’s wishes. This is a snippet of what the patient’s mom wrote about Jessie: “Jess, thank you! Thanks for everything. I don’t have enough space to write about all that you’ve done for my daughter to help her in every way. You are an angel. You made my daughter feel cared for and that carried through the entire 6 weeks that she was there. You raised the bar so high for other staff. She would call home so excited if you were her nurse for the day… I will never forget you telling me that I could go back to Ohio and my daughter would be fine, you were my calm when I felt so helpless, thank you” – patient’s mom. We are so proud to have you on our unit. Thanks for all you do Jessie!
