This is my second respiratory admission to the floor my first admission last year was pretty scary. I was experiencing an acute exacerbation of COPD (my first) and pneumonia (my first), along with hypercapnia. It took Jessy and my Respiratory therapist collaboration to determine that I needed to be placed on a BiPAP system. She obtained orders for an ABG knowing that was needed for the BiPAP. Jessy made time that day to see to my comfort and allay my fears. She sat with me and held my hand, talking to me the whole time. Nurses are the ones who spend time utilizing their clinical skills and helping to show compassion for us, their patients. Jessy did all that and so much more. She was my guardian angel that day and I am so grateful she used her skills and communicated her findings to the doctor. I feel she went above and beyond for me that day and possibly saved my life.
I was so happy to see Jessy upon this admission, I knew I was in good hands. Jessy was precepting a new nurse the day I was admitted so you know she was extra busy. But Jessy still took the time to bathe my feet before putting on the non-skid socks, who does that? The new nurse told me how much she was learning from Jessy, isn't this the highest praise a preceptor can get? Jessy has anticipated my needs this admission. I was extremely SOB with my BP and blood sugars out of whack. She has been here every step of the way for me, again! Jessy Thomas is as a dedicated nurse, committed to her patients as well as her profession.
