The Infection Prevention & Control team is available 24/7/365. During COVID, the team would be present during both day and night shift to ensure support of staff and providers. They took call 24/7 and acted as a liaison between state and local health departments. They managed and staffed the COVID vaccine clinic, as well as performed PAPR and fit testing. They worked to bring universal decolonization protocols to reduce MRSA infections. They are a close partner with Engineering on construction/renovation projects and have come in on weekends and overnights for emergent needs, as well as for special projects so that there was as little disruption as possible to operations. They have been present to discuss isolation and infection prevention practices with families and patients. This is just a small sample of the work that the team performs. They operate in the background and are many times forgotten, but they provide a valuable service and resource to the organization.
