July 2017 Honoree
ji hee forman, RN
While working with Ji-Hee in the Emergency Department, I had a young patient who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The tearful patient was overwhelmed by her diagnosis and frightened about what lies ahead. Though the patient was not Ji-Hee's and despite the busy day, Ji-Hee took it upon herself to use her personal experience with breast cancer to help the patient cope with her fears and anxieties. While I watched Ji-Hee hold the young girl's hand and sit at her bedside, I was proud to call her a part of my team. She answered every question the patient had and explained some of the expected side effects she may face during her upcoming treatments. A frightened tearful patient soon became a strengthened one with the hint of a smile. By the end of their time spent together, the patient requested a picture with Ji-Hee to show her dad the woman she met that won the battle she is now facing. Witnessing this experience inspired me and I am proud to work with such a caring and empathetic nurse.
Thank you, Ji-Hee, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
