Ji met me in the chapel to see how she could help our family with this situation. She organized for us to be able to come to the door to switch our children back and forth, even though that wasn’t the norm.
My daughter, who was two at the time, was a patient in the ICU. She is medically complex and was very sick when we were there. She is also very stressed out about doctors and nurses. At the time, I was nursing our six-month-old son, and so it was quite the juggle for me and my husband to switch back and forth between being with our younger son and with our daughter, who was a patient and also stressed out in the ICU.
On the first day that we were there, Ji met me in the chapel to see how she could help our family with this situation. She organized for us to be able to come to the door to switch our children back and forth, even though that wasn’t the norm. She stressed sympathy, was able to explain rules, and was able to help our family in such a professional and kind way. I have been a little nervous about us staying in Kona instead of being transferred to a bigger hospital, but the expertise and kindness of Ji made my mama's heart relax for the entirety of our time, even with other nurses. We were so glad that on our last day, we got to have Ji one last time as we were discharged. She made sure we had every medication we needed, that we had every answer we needed, that we talked to whoever we needed to talk to, but she also sweetly walked us out to the car as we were juggling multiple kids and things that we had carried into the hospital with us. She was incredibly professional and yet incredibly kind, putting our family at ease and making it easier to trust a smaller facility with our most precious little one. I wish your hospital could have hundreds of Ji's bringing peace to families with their great care and calm to little ones with their peaceful and attentive nature.
