Jill Cook, BSN, CPN, always goes above and beyond when it comes to the care of her patients. For example, Jill received a call from one of her patient’s mothers who was at the airport trying to take the patient and her younger sister to Dallas so that the patient could get obtain a necessary scan. The mother of the patient told Jill that she could not make it to Dallas related to a complication as a result of required travel documents. The sibling of the patient was not able to board the plane. Jill, being the phenomenal nurse and individual that she is, did not hesitate to get into her car, drive to the airport and pick up the patient’s younger sister. Jill brought the sister back to the Cancer Center where she cared and watched over her all day long. After work, Jill took this young girl home and cared for her until the patient’s mother returned. She picked the family up at the airport and took them home, safe and sound. Because of Jill’s efforts, the patient was able to obtain the necessary scans needed for further treatment. This is an outstanding example of how “Service is Our Passion” is exemplified by our DAISY Award Honoree, Jill Cook, BSN, CPN.
