Jill is an extraordinary nurse and it shows in her care. Jill had been caring for a patient who had been hospitalized for over two months. The patient had vastly improved and was close to discharge, however, still needed a few more days in the hospital. The patient was feeling down and depressed not being able to have visitors or even just leave the unit for some new scenery. Jill coordinated with nursing management and other staff members and arranged for the patient to have a visit outside. The patient expressed so much gratitude and enjoyment from the visit outside. Jill went out of her way to help lift a patient's spirits when she was really feeling down. The patient's mood was visibly brighter and all the staff could see the impact that was made.

The next week, Jill was taking care of a patient who was in their final days. The facility was not allowing visitors but Jill advocated for her patient to allow her family members to say goodbye. Jill personally escorted the patient's children, one by one, back to say goodbye to the patient. Jill communicated with the physician about the medications that the patient would need to feel comfortable. The family was extremely grateful and the patient truly received the best care.
