Jill is an amazing leader to our unit. I value and respect her as a person and a charge nurse. On a daily basis, she is up and working hard, taking patients, and running the unit. Sitting back and watching other people work is not in her DNA, no matter how long her day may have been. The other day we worked a hard shift. We were 2 nurses short, holding patients, the unit was completely full, and it was non-stop all day long of utter insanity. As usual, she was calm, collected, encouraging, and handled that day like nobody's business. She volunteered to take the evening call also because she knew all her staff was exhausted, even though she too was exhausted and had worked overtime. She is the definition of the word "leader" and I am privileged to work with her and call her my charge.
