As Jill Harvie, RN, stepped into a Benefis Eastview Senior Care Center room to administer a breathing treatment, the woman inside lit up.
Jill has a special gift for making residents of the care center feel not only competently cared for but also treasured.
As Jill straightened her bed, the woman told her, "I owe you big time for all you do for me."
However fortunate the woman feels, Jill feels just as grateful to be with her. She's Louise to Jill's Thelma, and they like to joke about chasing down their Brad Pitt. They have a loving banter.
"I love the residents, and I learn from them every day," Jill said. "It's a rich and rewarding experience."
She was singled out for her upbeat attitude, her compassion, the knowledge she shares to build up her team, and her willingness to "do whatever is needed to get the job done."
"Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as Senior Services abided by the strictest visitor restrictions, Jill has always taken time out of her busy schedule to ensure these residents still feel loved," said the manager of senior care at Eastview. "Jill maintained her upbeat and positive attitude, sitting and visiting with each resident to ease their feelings of loneliness."
