This year's DAISY Award of Extraordinary Nursing Faculty is Professor Jill Hunt. Albus Dumbledore, one of the most beloved characters from the Harry Potter series of fantasy novels, was Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the most powerful wizard of his time. Dumbledore reminds me, and many of our IUK nursing students, of Professor Jill Hunt. Like Dumbledore, Professor Hunt "believes that good lies in everyone, that second chances reveal the best in people, and that love is the greatest magic of all." Professor Hunt was nominated by many of her students. Some of the comments submitted with Professor Hunt's nominations for the DAISY Award are: ? Professor Hunt cares about every person in our class; is available outside of class; approachable and she DOES put the FUN in FUNdamentals! ? She has natural leadership and is a role model to me and my peers through her grace, attitude, and strength. ? Her heart is incredible. She is a role model. She is a mentor. I want to continuously learn from her. ? Professor Hunt goes above and beyond to make sure her students understand the material that she is teaching. She genuinely cares about the success of her students. In lab, she took the time to break down the skill that we were learning so that we could get a good understanding of it. ? She's an amazing professor making sure we have all the resources we need to be successful. In light of our current situation she has done an amazing job yet again. She has been keeping us informed on everything we could need to know. ? She video chats with us to make sure we are doing okay and to answer any questions we might have. She tries to help ease the anxiety we are all experiencing due to not knowing what is going on. ? She has been an excellent professor in lab as well as lecture and I am very grateful to have had her as a professor! I am lucky enough to have Professor Hunt for lecture, lab, and clinical. Attending all sections of her class has been super enjoyable. In clinical, she has shown me many skills and offers support and encouragement when I struggle and that has made a huge difference in my clinical experience. She not only does that for me but for my classmates as well. She is positive and helpful to all of us!
