I came to BMH ED for treatment. After being evaluated and sent upstairs to PCU, I spent my first night in the hospital. I was very nervous and anxious about my condition. The following night, I met Jill. She introduced herself and immediately could tell that I was not feeling well. Jill had taken the briefest moment to slow down and look me in the eye and let me know that she’d be with me every step of the way. That was when I knew I would be well taken care of. Jill not only gave me peace of mind, but she really cared about me. And by that, I mean, she looked at me while she was talking, explaining my vitals, she touched my arm with compassion, and had a smile that was reassuring. She related to my wife, whom Jill also made feel like she was just as important as I was. It wasn’t easy lying there feeling the way I did, but when you have someone as compassionate as Jill, as personable, as loving, as skillful, it makes all the difference. That is an understatement. Your patients are better off for having Jill. All too often, exceptional people are taken for granted, but I know when life puts someone in front of you like Jill, I can’t help but know that you see her too!
