Jill Moore is a terrific ICU nurse. She always strives to go above and beyond for not just her patients, but for her co-workers as well. She thinks fast on her feet and has a wealth of knowledge many seek out during times of need. She is detail-oriented and takes special pride in keeping family members in the communication loop. She would stay dressed out for hours just so family members could skype with their loved ones who were positive for COVID. She stays up to date on all the latest evidence-based practices to ensure the best patient care.
When it was discovered that proning ventilated patients who were positive for COVID, Jill was first to learn how to successfully and safely make this happen. When the hospital first introduced midlines, Jill created her own gelatin mold that replicated veins to practice her technique to make sure she was competent. She did this on her own time and while still taking classes offered at the hospital.
When patients are bed-bound and extremely weak, I have seen Jill offer the elderly gentlemen a fresh shave. Many times this brings a rejuvenated spirit to them. Jill takes pride in the appearance of the unit. During periods of downtime, you can find her cleaning up the unit, wiping areas down, and placing unused supplies back in proper locations.
Overall, I nominated Jill for this award because she exceeds the expectation of a nurse every day. She never misses a beat and keeps a positive attitude. She is an excellent role model.
