January 2024 Honoree
Jill Otto, RN
Jill went above and beyond for taking care of our son who was a preemie and stayed on her unit. I bought bottles for my son to use at the hospital so that hopefully the transition to feeds at home would be easier. Jill noticed that the bottles that I bought were too big, and she went out of her way to buy him a smaller pack of those bottles because she thought he would benefit from them. When I thanked her, she pretty much shrugged it off and acted like she didn't want recognition. I know that Jill is a nurse who would do a similar deed for any one of her patients because she loves them.
My husband visited our son on a separate date when Jill was his nurse, and when asked if she likes her job, she said she has been a pediatric nurse for over 30 years and loves what she does. That was very clear to us. There were other instances where she reassured us, helped us, and just remained positive while taking care of him. There is a lot of anxiety when having a preemie baby, having just been hospitalized yourself, and all the stress that comes with everything involved. We greatly appreciate you, Jill!
