Jill's care affects the life of every one of the babies in our unit. Not one baby leaves our unit without Jill's special touch. Jill's unique presence in our unit can be seen at the bedside of each one of our babies. When Jill comes to work she learns of any new babies that have been admitted and then she proceeds to create a personalized name card and ID card for the baby's bedside. Each name card is different and reflects the personality of the baby's name and the gender. Our families always comment on how special the cards are and many tell us how they will display the name card in the baby's bedroom at home. We have some families that will decorate their baby's room around the beautiful name card Jill has created. When it is time for discharge the moms always like to make sure the baby's card is among their belongings. We have even had families bring the card back to the unit if the baby is to be readmitted for an additional procedure. The mom will carefully display the card at the head of baby's bed. Most uniquely, Jill has done this for years and she pays for each card with her own money. She never asks or expects anything in return.
