In 2014, Jill cared for a patient through a loss, helping the patient and her family face the challenge and cope with the experience. A year later, the patient was scheduled to return to the hospital to deliver her baby, and Jill requested to be assigned to care for her again.
Jill changed her personal schedule the morning prior to the patient's arrival and decorated the patient's post-partum room with special linens, curtains, amenities, balloons and presents for the patient, her new baby and five-year-old son. She had been there to support the patient through her sadness and again, one year later, she made the patient a top priority to be there for her when she delivered her daughter.
The patient was grateful and said that without Jill, she never would have been able to step back onto our L&D unit. Impressed with Jill's compassion, Dr. M nominated her for this DAISY Award.
