It is impossible to summarize in a few words what kind of nurse Jillian Emmons is to Delta County Memorial Hospital and our community. Jillian’s passion to keep our community informed and safe are unsurpassed. She has devoted the last couple of years of her nursing career to the community and surrounding areas by serving as the Trauma Nurse Coordinator and community, hospital, patients, schools, and EMS departments just to mention a few.

Jillian displays empathy by realizing the shortcomings of the community’s awareness of Trauma and Emergency preparedness when she accepted her current role at DCMH. She has been instrumental in developing an ongoing and sustainable emergency preparedness program at the hospital that is very integrated with all emergency services including state and federal levels. She has made sure that community trauma outreach programs are geared towards the needs of our community, as well as providing trauma education to all nurses at DCMH. Jillian has taken on the personal responsibility to make sure that the entire community has “stop the bleed” kits in their AED stations. She has also spent countless hours of time outside of her role at DCMH making sure that everyone in the community that wants to be trained in hands-on only CPR and Stop the Bleed procedures has the opportunity to do so.

Jillian has been instrumental in the advancement of communications in the hospital by writing grants and obtaining funding for the programs like “Ready Ops” that allow for quick and easy communication between incident commanders and the hospitals in our area. Jillian is the nurse that you want by your side whether it’s staying late to help others finish their work, managing staffing shortages, assisting with critical patient care, or teaching our community and its surrounding areas “stop the bleed” initiatives.

Jillian is a trusted team member at DCMH and has worked very hard through educating herself and bringing all of that back to our community and hospital. Admirable attributes would include things such as organizational skills, emotional intelligence, excellent communication efforts, and above all professionalism in representing DCMH and our community. Without being able to multi-task and keep things organized for all of the different moving pieces of her daily job our community would not be prepared or informed of emergencies. Jillian is exposed to many areas of nursing that are difficult to handle such as traumatic incidences that our patients sometimes experience whether that is a car wreck, a fall, or even mass casualties. Jillian remains prepared, calm, and professional at all times. She is always excited to reach out to our community and learn what the needs are and then return and incorporate that into a fun learning experience for all. Jillian’s love and compassion are unmatched.

Her love for the safety of our community, hospital staff, and people, in general, is why she is so great at her job. Her devotion to Trauma and Emergency Preparedness combine with her passion and love of nursing allows her to provide the best services to our community and patients. Finally, when speaking of Jillian, you could interchange her name with selflessness and everyone would still know whom you were speaking of. Her time spent educating schools on safety and how to handle emergencies, trauma prevention and outreach for our community is priceless. She is an outstanding person and the best trauma nurse around.
